so i guess Im the last one to get to this...i'll try and make it as sweet as
possible.
I may be taking a risk in saying that DEMF hit emotionally deeper for those
from Detroit. Detroit has often been called a city of "ruins", "a
graveyard". It's people have been often been put down,criticized and
ridiculed for living in a city that many see as dirty,dangerous and
hopeless. This weekend, that all changed.
For me personally, the DEMF proved to those nay sayers that Detroit _could_
come together, in peace & fun (there were reported fights on saturday night
though). It proved that our pride can shine brighter than any critism, any
city council bill to tear down our cherished landmarks. We proved to all
those who have looked down upon us to be wrong.
To open myself even more here (i dont do emotions). Every time I leave
detroit, on the way to the airport, I weep a bit - as if Im leaving some
sort of long distance lover. I feel as though a part of me is being left
behind. For someone who moved eight times in 12 years of childhood-Detroit
gave me a place to call home. This weekend I felt like everyone shard the
pride, beauty and glory that I see in Detroit, it was finally understood.
To wrap it up. Thank you to everyone involved & for making my love go deeper
and making me want to preach my mission of passion even more.I am in a city
& industry full of people constantly in a hurry to forge for their own
survival (nyc) and Detroit always reminds me that there are those who know
life is worth much much more.

Detroit doesn't have Body & Soul , but it does have TP. Thank you to my
mentors -laura g, dan sicko & ian malbon...you always push my mind,even when
you're giving me $ to put in Paris' thong.Also to ALL my friends in the D-u
know who u are- you make it that much harder to leave every time.
