here's how i'd like to proceed:

designers e-mail me, *not the list*,
with a url to an image file or an attachment.
format should be gif, jpeg, or png.
size for initial submissions should be low-res,
no larger than 200 pixels tall or wide.

i'll slap them up on a web page and give
out the url as soon as there's something
to look at. submissions will be on display
for comment on-list until sunday, june 11.
multiple submissions are fine, but please
no more than 4 from the same artist. this
gives 2 weekends worth of time for people
to come up with designs.

one idea here is that we can arrive at a
good thematic image by looking at examples
as well as discussing concepts on the list.
this should be considered a communal "open source"
project. designers should feel free to borrow
from other entrants. graphic "remixing" if you like.
if you don't like the sound of that, you can
submit your designs closer to the 11th or
just tell me to keep your work under wraps
until voting time.

soon after june 11 there will be a voting
period of a few days. more on that later.
the winning artist(s) will be asked to submit
high-res versions of their works, which will
then be available to list members for download
to place on the garment of their choice.

i have already had people submit suggestions
for t-shirt sources. more info on that
when available. if there's a need,
i'll set up a page with a web company that
makes t-shirts, mugs, and mouspads on demand.
