Greetings,
I just saw brinkmann last week here in cleveland at speak in tongues. I went
in expecting a very subdued performance a la 96:vr. Man was I way unprepared
for what was to follow. All those soul/blues/gospel samples worked
effortlessly in to a consistantly smooth set. He had what would normally have
been a very relaxed cleveland crowd worked up into a frenzy. A great
hightlight from the performance was when he used the filtered conversation bit
from Hawtin's artifakts mixed into a very nice track ("you guys want
guuuuuummmmmm") Brilliant.
RRR alone would've been worth the price of admision, a flawless set.
If these guys come to a town near you, make sure you see them!
Also, http://www.bentcrayon.com is supposed to have the entire performance
available for streaming sometime soon if you want to check it out. The last
time I looked, it still wasn't up though.
