if it was 1984, it would be a no brainer--africa bamaataa. but it's 2000, and unfortunately africa bamaataa now plays crap, and he doesn't even play it that well. he recently spun in new york. it was terrible. he recently released a mix in the 'united djs of america' series. it sucks.
i have the greatest respect for the man (i have a real audio electro mix at www.jbucknell.com with quite a few africa bamaataa tracks on it). my feeling is--you've seen hell before, you'll see him again. africa bamaataa will more than likely suck. but there's a chance he could pull of a blinder. it's a long shot, but if it happens it will be brilliant. so i'd say take a chance, but be prepared to be let down. james Elias-group <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 06/11/2000 08:03:24 AM To: [email protected] cc: (bcc: James Bucknell/Magazines/Hearst) Subject: [313] Hell or Afrika Bambaataa The 24 th July I need to choose between 2 party's should I go to Dj Hell which I have seen several times (but he is soo good !), or is bambaataa realy worth chekking out ???
