As has already been said, nothing is original. Techno developed from major
influences from other cities and artists (Black and White) So did Drum and
Bass. I agree...The history is important, particularly since there are
people out there who have forgotten the origins...but Techno WAS a black
american art form.
It has now absorbed too much from other countries to be considered only
that. Any restriction in definition will cause people to reject artists who
are white, non-american, etc. etc. and smacks of elitism.
Techno is about inclusivity -If things are defined by race we will only lose
out on good music in the end...

P.S. A message to whoever mentioned the Hardwax Sound-stream record, there's
another one out called Donna or something(Four M's on the label) real funky,
bleepy techno track with a load of locked grooves on the other side -highly
recommended
