Today I listened to Mille Plateaux 74 by Reinhard Voight. After falling in love with his brother's Gas albums, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the monotony of this album. The entire album is dark, reverb-drenched bass beats that pound continuously for the duration of each song. If he had used some effects or phasing on the beats such as Pole does, this could be really cool. Instead, it gets dull quickly -- mesmerizing, but dull.
Anyone care to comment on this? I've been listening to a lot of Mille Plateaux lately and find that some of it is brilliant while other albums work in theory but tend to be boring as listening music. Jason Birchmeier
