I've had cops stop me on the way out and I just told them I was there taking
pictures and they said "oh" and drove away. It's pretty hard to get arrested
for capital murder in Detroit, let alone walking around in an old train
station. The best way in is through the back. There's a little archway off
of the street that runs UNDER the train tracks on the west of the bulding.
Go up the stairs, across the tracks and you're in. THINGS TO AVOID< FOR YOUR
SAFETY: going there at night, for bovious reasons. The basement: The floor
is unstable and there are amny6 places where it is collapsing, revealing
several-story pitfalls (there are four sublevels). The locals, they'll leave
you alone if you leave them alone.
the old MCS is privately owned. (hence the prison like fence that surrounds
it.) I think it is by far the most haunting "ruin" in the city. Standing
in
its shadow is a truly mystic experience. Imagining the thousands of people
who passed through those silent halls. it gives me the chills. being
totally
off topic, does anyone know the best way in? and the danger factor? I know
that the police frown upon tresspassing but how great could the punishment
be for wanting to feel history? just curious.
