I think the 'Tourist' LP is excellent - there's a real progression from the 'Boulevard'-era stuff in terms of production. The session players he uses are great, and I particularly like the more dubby tracks on the album, especially 'Montego Bay Spleen'. 'Rose Rouge', which came out as a 12" as well, is awesome, deep hypnotic jazz. All round it's a great package and one of the strongest albums so far this year for me... A couple of others doing it for me at the moment... Theo Parrish - That Day/How I Feel (Archive 12") You know it's going to be quality, and it is - 'How I Feel' especially is deep as hell... CiM - Reference (deFocus CD) 22 tracks of beautiful electronica from Mr Walley - can't recommend this enough really... Various - People... Make The World Go Round (People 2CD) IG Culture and the rest of the West London nu-jazz mafia with an essential round-up of the often-overlooked People label. Not a duff track in sight, and with the likes of Ian O'Brien and Phil Asher putting in appearances you can't go wrong... Cheers, Tom
