Actually Nasty Girl is an old Vanity 6 song and the Nuttin' Nyce cover is
kinda lame. Vanity 6 was Prince's answer to the Mary Jane Girls and in fact
he 'stole' Vanity away from Rick James (or so the story goes) and they had
this rivalry thing going on for years afterwards. I have the Vanity 6 album
and I would say that phase of Prince's career was quite influential on the
likes of Green Velvet through to Timbaland, in terms of the minimal
production style and humour. The original has the droll lines, 'I need 7
inches or more' and 'wake me up when you're done' that kinda thing.
