A really good finish to the Revolution Magazine tour here last night. (Curiously, no copies of the actual magazine were to be had, but they had others giveaways including a quite good comp CD with tracks from Bukem, Faze Action, A:xus, R-Type, Swayzak, Carl Craig's Moskow Disco remix...)
Stacey played a really energetic set, not so much of the aimless knob- twiddling as when he played the Transmat show in SF earlier this year. An especially strong finish to lead into Swayzak. I enjoyed them quite a bit (and had a good talk with James Taylor afterwards). Juan had a rough start (the sound guy disappeared and left him with a really bad monitor mix) but soon got into a pretty nice energetic house groove. None of the three played spectacularly, but this was the end of a long tour on a Sunday night in a fairly full but not super-jazzed club. And it was *hot* -- steambath time in Portland, 80 degrees out even at midnight and warmer/sweatier inside the Ohm. I coulda slugged the camera people though. I don't know if some or all of them were on tour crew, but they were incessant with the hopping-all- over-the-stage-because-I'm-the-video-dude antics that drive me nuts. "Camera ready prepare to flash." Um hmm, not while I'm spinning, *dude*. :) phred
