Very good point Fred! I have nothing strongly against trance, it's just one of
my least favorite genres of music to listen to(with jungle), not necessarily to
spin. The trance I find myself liking is often the 'anthems'... One of my best
friends that first got me into this whole bit spins trance... I'm fine it with
it, it's just one of my least favorite of the genres. I can get down with it as
well. My point still stands though, I will spin it if I feel like it, and I
have nothing against people who spin it or like it. Nice reply. I love input.
Oh! And I am infamous for giving in to the cheesy party music and being silly
:) Don't get me started! ("Everybody Dance Now!!"lmao)

This is what I don't understand though...first you say this
"I could care less what genre I'm spinning as long as it feels real to me at
the time"
but then you say this
"I've been known to have times where I'll want to scratch up some hip/trip
hop or even trance (Which scares even me)
Why does it scare you to admit that you enjoy to playing something that
feels real to you? Is it really_that_bad to love cheesy party music?
Techno has this whole "cool" factor to it and trance seems to carry a "knees
up" basic party feel (get the most bang for your buck)...and being stupid
and silly is not "cool" but that's what life and a good party is about.
If you love trance, say so. I'm sure that you don't like all techno tunes
but you probably feel more comfortable saying "I love techno" than you do
saying "I love trance" eventhough you may not like all trance either.
I just don't get the trance bashing.
Just watch if someone says anything positive about trance music on the 313
list, tons of people will come down on them for it. Why?
Basically I think all electronic/dance music is a part of the same tree and
if you bash the hell out of one of it's limbs just because you don't like
the way it looks it affects the rest of the tree. As all the sounds become
more protectionist the sound becomes more inbred until it's all the same and
people will begin to infight ("Techno DJ so-and-so isn't really
underground") So what if a techno DJ spins a tune perceived and classified
as trance? I'd be very interested to hear their take on it.
Do you see what I'm trying to get at?
