Hello,

This is kind of 313 related. It's about Detroit, and music, some of which is
techno. I'm in the process of compiling a tape to listen to at work of music
from or related to Detroit. I'd like to not flood it with techno and soul,
however, which is what I usually do. Any ideas to add to the list? I've
managed (some of these implicitly assume others)...

1. Techno/House.
2. Motown and other soul.
3. Stooges.
4. MC5.
5. Alice Coltrane.
6. Aretha Franklin.
7. Joe Henderson.
8. Donald Byrd.
9. Parliament/Funkadelic.
10. Tribe records.
11. Yusef Lateef.
12. Elvin Jones.
13. Dorothy Ashby.
14. Dramatics (I'm not sure about this, I'm basing it on the Ron Banks
connection).
15. Joni Mitchell.

I've also been informed Kiss and Alice Cooper are either from Detroit or
otherwise related, but I'll leave them off for reasons of personal taste.
I'd especially like to know what hip hop, disco and other jazz is Detroit
related, although I'm up for anything decent, really. Email me off-list,
though, 'cause I'm sure most folk don't want to hear it.

Cheers in advance,

Jonny.
