detroiters, metropolis will be showing at the detroit film theatre @ the dia october 6 @ 7:30. special alloy orchestra presentation.
the 3-man alloy orchestra uses many home-made percussion instruments (& other, more traditional instruments such as the accordian) to create & then perform live scores for silent films. their score for metropolis has become their hallmark. awesome film & to see it performed in an elegant film-house with a live score - what could be better? i am also familiar with the moroder score - i'll have to say that alloy's kicks its butt. also, moroder's film is colorized (or "tinted"). i'm sure that has its proponents, but i prefer the original b&w. but hey, i'd be open to giving a mills score a fair shake. alloy's current us schedule can be found at http://rogermiller.home.mindspring.com/alloygig.html for a distinctly unique cinematic experience, look no further. kbk
