For what it's worth Richie spent considerable time when he played in Iowa City talking to kids and posing for pictures with them, and was uniformly pleasant with everyone here. If he doesn't always do that I don't blame him -- he's in a position where everyone wants a piece of him. And I haven't met ALL the Detroit DJs yet but the ones I've spent time with have been really pleasant, open, and generous -- Lawrence Burden, Alan Oldham, DJ Bone, Terrence Parker, etc. Considering the number of total schmucks I've met (and I'm not naming names) I'm beginning to think there's something in the water up there ...
