One more thing on my theory and I will shut up, and I notice this factor to very prominent in Detroit (thus making it somewhat relevant to this list)
There is a _large_ faction of people who do/listen to "real techno" for no other reason that it being simply "proper". I remember a debate with another tech-head about the Jeff Mills "Live in Japan" CD. There were many points where the mixing was simply off, and I vocalized this to my friend. His response was "That's how proper techno is done, dude, it's Jeff Mills, he knows what's up more than you I think!!" Of coarse, many people will argue against him, but the fact is that he was liking something for utterly wrong reasons, and the same goes for a lot of tech freaks who enjoy minimalism solely for the novelty or elitism factor, thus making my theory about Toneshifting a rarely realized or admitted occurrence... darw_n "create, demonstrate, toneshift..." http://www.mp3.com/darw_n http://www.sphereproductions.com/topic/Darwin.html http://www.mannequinodd.com
