if this is true (may not paying barnett), it doesn't shock me to hear that may didn't pay barnett. and it wouldn't shock me if may were behind the fact that represses (of things he had collaborators help him with) are now credited to solely may himself. read the interview with octave one on cognition (http://techno.ca/cognition) and lawrence burden explains how may paid $0 (that's zero) of the money owed the burden's for octave one's "i believe". this kind of thing happens all the time in the music *industry* and it disgusts me how so many of the artists i've been lucky enough to interview have at least one tale or two about being ripped off by someone they last expected to do so. personally, a former room mate of mine sold 4 000 copies of a single and he had to bug the label for payment. they paid him a grand total of $40. that's right, $40 for 4 000 singles sold. i had a track on a compilation years back and--to make a long story short--the label tried to tell me i owed *them* money! i could go on and on, but won't.
