Looks like I'm covered at the door tonight at Berghain (thanks to Lenny from Octave One). I'm staying at a hotel, Upstalsboom, near Warschauer str. Looks like it's about a 10 minute walk from the venue. I wasn't trying very hard but there was a good rate on Kayak, it seemed to be in the right area, bingo. Plenty of other hotels in the area, it turns out, in case anyone here is coming to Berghain from far away. So I'll report in after the show.
On the train from Poznan, Poland today, I struck up a conversation with a guy who was also coming back -- but not from the UN climate conference. He was a musician, he told me. (I am looking at the funny sticker on his laptop saying something about "glitch" and I'm thinking, this could be cool when he finds out I know something about that). Then he surprised me when he said his name -- Akufen. Of course! He played a show at some club in Poznan last night. Says he's mostly DJing right now but thinks that is slowing down and he'll focus more on making track again in the coming months. And he has a message for 313 -- mark your calendars for Mutek in Montreal on May 27-31, 2009. He said it will be extra-good for the 10th anniversary. I'm thinking seriously about how to do DEMF and Mutek back-to-back. They are also taking submissions for just one more day if you've been thinking about sending in something to get on the roster: http://www.mutek.org/news/index.php/post/10/call_for_submissions cheers fh PS mobile is +48 785 041 096 in case anyone else is at Berghain tonight
