I've been delinquent in posting due to some computer problems, so I have
some catching up to do. Two weeks ago was the seventh in a series of
"Dutch Treat" mini-features highlighting some aspect of Lowlands techno.
This time, the light came down and shone 'round the works of DJ/producer
Steve Rachmad, whose best known working name is Sterac, though he has
many others. Check discogs.com if you're curious. Anyway, I did a set of
his music, the playlist of which is available at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=31679 .
The week after was a "freak-week" set. Freak weeks happen on occasion
by special programming dispensation, and all fetters are lifted from the
DJs, except for things absolutely needed to keep us legal, like station
IDs and such. I celebrated freak week with an extended set of booty
house/booty bass, dipping heavily into my stash of Dance Mania 12"s. The
playlist is at http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=31726 .
The coming show is one of those odd and sods affairs, starting off with
Sweet Exorcist's "Testone". The 12" in question kept slipping away from
one of my stacks and plopping face-down on the floor, forcing me to step
over it. I took this as a sign. What follows after it are selections
from an E-pay stash of 12"s that have been sitting around for some time
waiting for me to deal with them, combined with stuff frm the piles
immediately adjacent to my turntables.. Expect tracks from Adam Proll,
Joey Beltram, Morgansitic, Claude Young, Burger Industries, Hans
Platzgumer, Mantrac, Dave Clarke DJ Silversurfer, and others.
For those who keep track of such things, the next Dutch treat will
feature Unit Moebius.
"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning,
12A-3A (7A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at www.kfjc.org (follow the links). Present and
past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived there. You can also check
out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just Desserts" that
aired on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived playlists exist
for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve 1999/2000.
If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at [email protected] to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.

Richard Hester
