Sam Shipping in/out of India (or anywhere in this region) is a nightmare.
You will pay a ton, but use DHL or FedEx (I'm in Dubai and haven't seen a UPS truck yet). The next step would be for you to pack it - like...really overly crazy pack it. Then, when you go to the FedEx Kinko's - have them put their packaging over it, including cushioning. I would also recommend putting a plastic bag inside of your packaging, putting your records in that bag and sealing it. It is not uncommon for packages to be left in the rain. And insure it. Umm. yeah. The main reason for this is because you have a box that is outside of normal regulations (size/weight). This isn't america or western europe, as I'm sure you are aware. Good luck in Bangalore. Be safe - there have been a rash of violent acts towards westerners up north, and it is quickly spreading south. -Mike On Mon, May 18, 2009 at 9:04 AM, Samuel Karmel <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi > > As part of a spiritual enrichment exercise i am traveling to india > -specifically bangalore > I want to buy up various late 70s - 80s bollywood soundtracks on > wax...peepz like bappi lahiri (disco dancer) > some of the production is wacko synth madness. > > Can any of you learned folk offer me some advice into vinyl shopping in india. > > from the outback > > Sam >
