Tonight's Wild Kingdom starts with a Mixmaster Morris track that's a tip
of the hat to the local Yuri's Night do at NASA's Ames Research Center.
For those unfamiliar with the event, its a celebration of he first man
in space, Yuri Gagarin, and of space exploration in general. Other
ingredients in the mix: Dreamfish, Opik, Various Artists, Claro
Intellecto, 4E, Tranquility Bass, and others. Last week's playlist is at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=35016 .
Next month is KFJC's "Month of Mayhem", a long-standing tradition
(almost 30 years) in which that month is given over to special features.
The calendar so far is up at kfjc.org - expect additions as people get
their various acts in gear. I'm planning specials on Sahko/Puu (a
2-parter), Russ Gabriel, nosebleed hardcore, the AACM (jazzheads only),
and a silly Country and Western special.
I'm looking for suggestions regarding classic/notorious hardcore tracks
for that special. I have a lot of the Rising High stuff and some
stinkers (including a really embarrassing Guru Josh track), but I could
always use some more suggestions. It doesn't matter if the tracks are
horrid, as long as they were huge at the time. I want the special to be
a mix of stuff that's good (there's always a gem or two in even the
rankest manure pile), and a heaping shovel full of said manure.
Limited time archives for all shows on KFJC (including this one) are
available at http://www.kfjc.org/broadcast_archives/ . These are
"rolling archives", available for two weeks after any given show. My
shows are listed as "Goodwrench". Send comments and suggestions to
[email protected] .
"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning,
12A-3A (8A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .
Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org.
You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just
Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived
playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve
1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much
consistent with what I was up to all along.
If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at [email protected] to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.
Regards,
Richard Hester
