I had to pass this along. While not strictly music-related, my friend Bethany
is part of the group Dethlab, she is super-talented and has made her home in
Detroit (in fact, her work studio is just down the block from Transmat) for the
last 12 years when she could've hightailed it back to the Boston area after her
degree.
To me she is part of Young Detroit - people trying to do creative things and
help shape a renaissance of the city, rather than wallowing in Mayoral scandals
and abandoned buildings and all the troubles that exist. In short, she kicks
@ss (and makes the coolest neckties on the planet to boot) and I'm glad to see
someone post something uplifting about living in the city.
