What the..... ?????
Whilst following up the Juan Atkins discography that another
member posted recently I ended up looking into Moritz Van Oswald's shady
past and discovering that he played drums and percussion on the 1990
album by The Associates (any other Scottish members who know of Billy
McKenzie's one true passion in life will understand the cryptic comment
in the Subject line of this post.. he.he.he). This would only be a year
or two before the unbelievable Sonic Sunset and 3MB feat Eddie Flashin
Fowlkes (..as in what ever happened to...) albums and round about the
same time that Basic Channel started!!!! Anyone who heard Billy
McKenzie's Discofied version of Blondie's heart of Glass from about the
same time will testify to his love of electronic music but from basic
Channel to The Affectionate Punch is a bit of a leap. Does anyone on
the list have any further info on Mauritzio's other "early days"
appearances (a sort of Techno "before they were famous" thread could
easily start here-did you know that Ian Pooley used to be my paper
boy????)
