Hi Folks,

I didn't see much chatter on here about favourite records in the last year.
I guess there's plenty of end-of year lists on all the usual blogs/sites
but figured I'd mention a couple I'd been playing over the festive break
here:

M Print (M Plant) - Rob Hoods 3CD set. There's no shortage of Rob Hood
records on my shelves but I liked the idea of having a collection on CD to
play in the car and particularly interested in the remixes/edits. Its all
good stuff and its striking that none of it sounds too dated, given its a
20yr compilation. I was most looking forward to the new version of minus
(although is it possible to improve on perfection?) which is an interesting
take and adds a bit of percussion. But I was more surprised and impressed
with the other 3rd CD tracks like Externus Oblique and Monkey. My only
comment is that as an M Plant compilation it would've been nice to have
some memory foundation or pulsinger but maybe that's a licensing thing.

Adventures in Techno Soul 3 (Ferox) - Ok this is not directly 313 material
however its in the right ballpark and one of the tracks is called
'something 'bout the D'. Pretty strong tracks all round though my picks
are the 1st (Darren Harris - Orion Nebula) which is spacey melodic electro
with hints of toytronic. Nebraska has a catchy bass loop and the final
Fred P track (Perspective) is deep space late night jam.

With a Fred P link via NY 'The Corner' label, Anthony Parasoles 'Pressure'
12" is nice. I noticed someone had described in a discogs comment as Basic
Channel meets Terrence Dixon. That's not a bad description.

And then I'll link via a Parasole remix to Steracs 'Hypnoticus' on Delsin.
Brilliant title, strangely catchy track and equally worthy remixes too.

Anybody want to comment or recommend other stuff?

-Aly
