One good thing about mainstreaming of techno in
America could be that Planet E, or Trnasmat could get
as powerful as some of their European underground
counterparts. To my knowledge, most Planet E 12"s are
not distributed outside the US, but some European
labels are stable enough to do this. If more
underground American labels can sustain a larger
customer base, it may be easier to obtain that music
in Europe, and the scene would be that much more
global. Just thinking out loud, but it makes sense to
me. The DJs who travel are opperating on a global
level, it would be nice to make it easier and cheaper
for DJs who don't travel and Joe consumer to have this
kind of cheap access. I think one huge unified
undergound community, where everyone has access to the
same music at the same price is a good goal to attain
to. No quality compromise involved, just better
distrobution.
