Surgeon - Midnight Club Tracks 1 (Counterbalance 04)

3 tracks. A-side features heavy electro/non-4-4 beats with layers of
percussion and some v nice edits. This is a great track w/ lots of ideas.
B-side features two tracks which are more 4/4 based (but displaying
Surgeon's usual polyrythmic mayhem), continuing the percussive theme from
side A with lots of edits and some great synth parts. All 3 tracks are
fairly complex, heavy numbers with echoes of Derrick May in there somewhere.
I'm impressed by this EP, the best Surgeon release I have heard for a while
(La Real is also superb).

Samuel L Sessions - Remixes pt 1 (Cycle 10)

Featuring the remixing talents of Ben Sims and Mark Broom and Samuel L
himself. This is all great stuff though no departure from the usual tribal
sounds and running bass lines. Ben Sims mix (of Centrafrique) is good though
a little uninspired perhaps - makes a great tool. Mark Broom delivers an
interesting take on this sound, easing up on the bass a _little_ and adding
some nice repetitive synth - a very hypnotic track.

Samuel L Sessions - Let's Get Lost (Cosmic ID 3)

More great tribal tracks from Sessions on Steve Bicknell's Cosmic offshoot
(also check out Oliver Ho release on this label Cosmic ID 2, fantastic) -
this is his best work IMO, along with Centrafique.

Common Factor - World Is Mine (Planet E)

Deep and uplifting vocal house, with some lovely harmonies - singer has a v
powerful voice which is supported by some excellent rythms and bass lines.
Really great release, four mixes all v nice. I have a white with no track
list so don't know who has done the mixes unfortunately :(

O'Connor/Sutton - A Disintegration Of Our Faith (Downwards)

2 'banging' (excuse the term) tracks from Birmingham. Excellent production
on both tracks; winding hypnotic grooves with an edgy/dark feel. One for
4am.

Also :

Picked up UR - Revolution For Change (1992). An awesome record. Punisher,
Code of Honour etc....

Mayday mix of Jaguar (430 West Uk) - has been discussed a lot but lives up
to most of the hype IMO. Original still the best mix for me by a stretch.
