Have a CDR looping of some original (ambient/easily mixable?) stuff in a
CD-walkman nearby, plugged into the mixer. Rehearse fading it in
smoothly without flipping out on stage when your machine locks (like it
will, at the worst possible moment). Practice recovering your set from a
sudden crash as quickly as possible (get someone to reset your machine
while you are playing and see how you deal).

If you are playing from a PC it's amazing how many people presume you
aren't doing anything much and come and start yakking on about "this
amazing program called Rebirth that you should check out", or the latest
motherboard they got or whatever. Ignore them, or have a sh-101 or
something out in view so they know you are playing music and won't get
in your face.
