I think that he's established a relationship with a venue in NYC (Twilo? don't know) that he's comfortable with, but in general he has demonstrated some trepidation about playing anywhere else here. That's not an assumption I'm making, that comes from personally dealing with his manager and other private conversations with people who know him.
I don't know why this is, and don't care to speculate, and it's his business. Maybe if he has a good time in Detroit, that will change. My personal feeling is that given his position and accomplishments, it will be a good thing if he plays in his home country, and that people here come to appreciate him for the artist he is. But the most important thing I need to state is that I didn't intend to cast any aspersions on the people bringing him to Detroit for the March 1st show, or his manager, or him personally. My original post merely reflected my personal disappointment at him canceling the last Detroit show. I don't know Laura Gavoor personally but she comes with the highest recommendation from people in Detroit that I trust. Some of you reading this may wonder what I'm on about, but if you'd been through some of the drama I have, you'd be concerned as I am to head off any misunderstandings. Nuff said.
