Has anyone considered the possibility that the Plus 8 folks might just be doing it to be the first? They always want to innovate, and they might see this as a way to lower people's inhibitions about embracing these new technologies, even if they aren't perfected yet. Can you imagine what their endoresement means to the developers who create this gear? Yes, it could all flop and die tomorrow, but with their endorsement, new, improved hard/soft combinations will come about. It's the same thing as waiting for that perfect interface for a soft synth.
Let's not pretend vinyl's any more perfect than a CD, if nothing else from the perspective of an aspiring musician. Can you imagine how much easier it would be to get exposure if you didn't have to press vinyl? I imagine these are all things the Plus 8 crew have considered, and are integral to their use of these products. I seriously doubt that lugging vinyl around was a decisive factor for them, even if it makes the rest of us wimps jealous. As of late they have been about pioneering and breaking down barriers. I'm gonna wait for the bugs to get worked out, the price to come down and the user reviews to come in.
