we just threw a house party for all our friends and i caught a conversation
that i always find enertaining. i was hooking up the tape deck and while i was
down there attatching rca cables i was listening in on a guy who who goes to
school w/ me who is a cd dj at a goth club downtown explain to his girlfriend
how much more difficult it is to dj with cds and how records really suck
because they skip and have pitch control problems and some other technical
justifications that i didnt understand. she asked him if that was why he wasnt
djing. he said well, you know, i guess im just not cool
enough to play with this crowd, besides, i wasnt invited.

actually, he wasnt with djing dae + me because i would never spend some of the
most enjoyable hours of my week with someone who thinks like a football player.
weve been doing house parties for friends for too long and have spent too much
time together for that. he is missing the point of a house party, or any party.
so we were using an amp w/ a blown channel. everyone WAS having fun. i dont see
him out there throwing parties, or having a good time. this is where i see the
"argument". some people are out there bangin records and having a good time
while others are out on a playing field trying to come out with a victory.
theres too much stress in living for me to carry that into djing. its not about
not the choice of equipment or method of madness. sonic excellence is a luxury,
thats all.

ill go up next to anyone with these cd inventions and well play out the real
issue-who got the crowd groovin, whos having a good time. you just have to buy
the plane ticket:>
