Hello, I hadn't seen this Party that's going on in Portland posted
here. Any 313 members
in the Seattle or Portland area will want to check out this rare
opportunity to catch
so many 313 artists, as well as some excellent live sets at this
one of a kind Portland State presentation. The line up is below:

Dan Bell - 7th city/tresor/plus 8 classics /7thcity.com

Dan's production career initially began in hip hop, but that quickly
changed
after he became aware of the early Chicago house scene. Soon after he
met
Richie Hawtin (aka Plastikman) and the two collaborated as Cybersonik
for
three years on Windsor, Canada's +8 Records. After relocating to Detroit

in 1991, he started his own label, Accelerate, which became home to his
trademark minimal productions. For four years Dan also co-owned and
operated
7th City Distibution which became an important catalyst for the third
wave
of Detroit-based labels. Dan has recorded under his own name and his
moniker
"DBX" for labels including Peacefrog (UK) and Tresor (Germany) and Klang

(Germany). He was also recently featured on Virgin recording artists'
Chemical
Brothers "Brothers Gonna Work it Out" mix c.d.; He currently
owns and operates the 7th City, Accelerate and Elevate labels.

Kit Clayton and Sue Costabile - orthlorng musork/cytrax (live a/v)

Kit Clayton is a basement freak. With little sunlight and musty
air, there he spends long days and late nights staring endlessly
into the 1024 by 768 pixel grid, toggling the monitor switch back
and forth between computers, between operating systems, drifting
between work and music. He forgets which of these similar activities
he is currently engaged in, as his work is typically constituted
by typing line after line of code, and his music is manipulating
row after row of digital audio tracks.
From this hole, he has poured himself into music for
labels such as Cytrax, Delay, Drop Beat, Mille Plateaux, Parallel,
Plug Research, Phthalo, ~Scape, and Vertical Form. From minimal
techno to melancholic dub to structured noise, Kit consistently
abuses technology, manipulating sounds in otherworldly ways, following
an old tradition of dub production.
If not behind the turntables, Kit plays his laptop--umbilical
cord to his basement womb. Improvisation through soundfile
manipulation/recombination,
granular synthesis, feedback chains, and other digital noisemaking
methods, his live music is a scattered exploration of sound rather
than a consistent recreation of his recorded music.
With minimal, noisy, post-processed music more suited
for other music geeks than the drug happy club kid, they occupy
a strange space within what might appear to be an increasingly
conservative world of Bang Bang Techno. And causing even more
trouble, Kit and Sue Costabile operate Orthlorng Musork, a label
which seeks to be defined only in its deviance to musical norms.
An outlet for marginalized music, it doesn't aim for continuity,
but rather a divergent path of sounds and structures unwelcome
in the status quo. Busy little bee, Kit also works as a computer
programmer for Cycling '74, the company responsible for Max/MSP,
a flexible environment for custom MIDI and DSP applications.

John Tejada - palette/7th city/defocus (live)

Born in Vienna, Austria, John Tejada was introduced
to music by his mother, an acclaimed soprano, and his father,
a musical conductor. At the age of eight he moved to Los Angeles
(where he still resides today) and eventually was shown to have
a natural ability to play several instruments. By the time he
was 16 he had become bored with traditional music and began to
experiment with new types of electronic music. Later, his unique
style of music was released on several European record labels
including A13 (U.K.), Multiplex (Denmark) and Generations R&S
(Belgium). John also has recently started his own label record
label , Palette, and also records as "Mr. Hazeltine" for Plug Research.

test: - testsite.org (live a/v)

TEST: is a collaborative arts group dedicated to using projection in
performance and installations. Artists Gregory Cowley, Scott
Arford, and Kaveh Soofi have combined their backgrounds in visual
arts, sound, electronics, programming, architecture, and performance
to create all-encompassing time-based environments out of light and
sound. These spectacles manipulate the cinematic elements of image,
sound and narrative in order to confront the viewer with a visceral
experience.
Each performance is an exercise in the loud and quiet, dynamic and

static. Synchronized banks of slide projectors are used to project,
animate, and transform static images into simple forms of perceptual
continuity. Multiple banks of projectors are controlled by laptop
computers via. custom-built circuitry and mechanics. This
combination of high-tech and low-tech allow dense fields of
photographs to flood into the performance space.
TEST: has often worked with dance and theatre groups, with the
specific intention of confusing the boundaries between the realms of
performanmce and visual art. The intersection of these forms is
further complicated by the role of technology, which is central tho
the resulting artwork. Although the evolutionary goal of technology
is to make itself transparent, TEST: embraces the overt and opaque
qualities of mechanized imagery. This focus on the process of
technology allows for a closer association with the notions of time
and the tangible. Ultimately, Test: strives to create work that makes
dynamic use of
sight, sound, and space. The results are evocative and unique.
