I thought "Memory and Forgetting" was on Strictly Rhythm. Wamdue has a great album on Peacefrog though. "These Branching Moments" is the title if memory serves. If you like "Memory and Forgetting" you should also pick up his first album on !K7 which has "Memory" on it. The other album he did for Peacefrog is a bit spottier, with a few nice tracks. I asked him about it when it came out and he said he was really surprised they chose those tracks, because he had much better stuff to offer. Peacefrog is a strange label. So much of it has been stellar, but then you get "Knob Twiddle" by Paul Johson which sounds like a Roland XP keyboard right out of the box, with no real development in it. You also have the first David Alvarado full length which is just boring, but his follow-up 12" is spectacular. "Listen first" is the rule of thumb with them, although I have to agree their back catalgue is the best in town. I rank it up their with my Prescription and Cajual collection as my favorite material of the times. I bought just about everything I found on these labels. One of the most impressive things about Peacefrog once they got the Chicago hookup was the way their releases stood out so high above the same artist's domestic releases. Tim Harper's "I Feel A Groove" is unbeliveable, but the rest of his stuff from the time was only so-so IMO. They seemed to have this influence on lots of Chicago artists in that way. I don't know what's behind that really. Oh, and I dunno if Peacefrog was straight bangin' in the beginning. I highly recommend Dan Curtin's "Silicon Dawn". His best work IMHO. That was an early Peacefrog release. Not as old as X-Tront stuff, but it dates back towards the beginning.
