And while we're on the topic - you shouldn't overclock an AMD T-bird over 1
Ghz if you have a via 733 chipset, otherwise you run the risk of screwing up
the ACPI power settings, which could cause normal operating hardware (like
CD-ROMs and Floppys and anyuthing else) to all be assigned to the same IRQ,
which can wreak havoc.
The main thing to watch out for when recording to disk, is that you don't
have any processes start after you start your recording. In Win9x, if you
have a screen saver enabled, you should turn it off for the duration of the
session, as it can create skips in the recording. If you are using Winnt or
Win2k, try setting your page file to a larger size (right click on my
computer - go to properties, select performance, and edit page file size.)

settle down, mister toneshift.
where exactly are you getting this information? I record to my c drive
all the time, with a whole bunch of other processes running.
I did so on my old p133 with 64 megs of ram and a 5400rpm hard drive too,
and never had a problem.
as long as your drive defragmented and ample swap space before you start
recording, you'll be fine.
you don't have to pretend to be an expert on every topic, you know.
