Maybe I have a bit of vigilante in me when it comes to this
issue - your criticsm is taken for what it's worth. But
dammit I CARE about this community and what I've learned
from the other members. By offering my opinions on what's
topical, I'm trying to help the list retain some integrity
rather than degenerating to the crap ratios of regionalized
rave lists.

Again we return to the eternal question of how much focus
is enough focus. The point isn't whether anyone should
arbitrate what is and isn't on-topic. The point is that in
the past, many people have complained about gear posts on
313, or one-liners, or what have you. In the past, there
have been times when we managed to operate together
successfully rather than bickering and insulting each other
when we disagree. As a concerned response to complaints
about gear posts that only concern a small portion of
subscribers, 313TechKnow was established by Todd Gys. It is
a successful sister list to [EMAIL PROTECTED] because they
divide content relatively clearly so you can effectively
decide which list appeals to you. If they both appeal to
you, then subscribe to both, and you know where to post the
stuff that applies to each list. It's not an issue of
fascism, it's an issue of courtesy and topicality.

I think Dennis said it best when he said we all have a
different way of defining what is and what isn't topical to
313. The thing is, 313TechKnow is a clear choice.

The issue of one-liners, jokes, etc is basic netiquette, to
be observed at your own discretion.

Just my opinion, not trying to pull a Warren D on 313.
