information you need. Music Files available.
This epitomizes the worst lameness on the Web -- sites that you can't
even get into without whatever plugin the designer happens to be
infatuated with. This kind of message goes well into user-hostile
territory. Why will anyone *ever* want to return to a site after
being advised ostentatiously to get with the program or write to
someone on AOL for an email response Real Soon Now.
I make it a policy not to go to sites like this, even if I have the
required features, as I do (Java, Flash and Shockwave are the main
offenders but there are others).
Earth to web designers: please feel welcome to use all the proprietary
web display tools you want, but don't make them mandatory and don't
lock out the 50% of your potential visitors who don't have them, have
low bandwidth, or have low tolerance for designer egomania.
