there are two books allegedly in progress (as of 6 months ago) on the history of detroit jazz (which is an insane amount believe it or not) there was also one printed back a while ago (you can find it at the EMU library...the author escapes me)i think it's called "the detroit jazz almanac"....try doing a web search for Kim Heron...as he's written several articles on the history of detroit jazz, and is considered by many to be a very integral part to keeping the detroit jazz flame alive and well.
the most thorough place i've found is http://hypatia.ipl.org/exhibit/detjazz/, oh yeah and of course www.semja.org is a good place to find out what's happening recently. and the most interesting way i've found to hear history is just to find record shops in detroit, clubs where jazz is still spoken and listening to jazz musicians talk about their experiences. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
