Picked up some 313 related records along with my tickets for the
Flux/Chaos/Red Planet event.

1. Imax (DE LL011) - Deep Chord get the old Detroit/Berlin baton passed to
'em by Pacou. Detroit copying Berlin copying Detroit in Berlin...(?) I keep
vowing never to buy any more Deep Chord releases because they _do_ all sound
the same. As soon as I listen to them in the shop, though, I forgive them
for this. Top stuff that you've heard before. Still, the same can be said
about Octave One and...

2. Robert Hood "Invincible" (US M-Plant M-P321) - Rob Hood returns to form
after that awful Chic cut up thing a couple of months back. Three varied
tracks with loads of percussive clicks and squelches; trademark super
compressed kicks and 4 bar synth riffs; and high end sci fi whines and
drones. If that's not tempting I don't know what is. The final track is a
gorgeous little melodic number, too.

3. Hardlife "Hardlife" (US Underground Resistance 44) - Vocal house stormer
from the UR camp. The choice Aaron Carl mix is a Carl Craig vocal treatment
meets Octave One string led house groove.

4. Jay Denham "Revenge Of The Madman Pt. II" (US Black Nation 410) - If
you've got a good memory you might remember every time I like a harder
techno record it is by Jay Denham. This one doesn't disappoint: there's the
rough and ready feel which belies masterly control and attention to detail.
It's clearly loop based but in funkiness reminds me of early Advent
productions. Alongside the occasionally excellent DJ Rush, Denham shows, to
me at least, that the tried and tested cliche isn't the only option in the
all too conservative world of harder techno.
