Hi

Anytime Richie's name's mentioned a pretty long thread
ensues :)

To add my 2c -- I don't think Richie's done anything
very impressive productionwise for quite some years.
Nothing since Consumed that I can think of.

Richie's the man I'd credit with turning me onto this
music in a really profound way when I saw him in a
small sweaty club in Perth in 1996. Before that I'd
gravitated towards the depth of Detroit sounds, but
didn't understand that in the hand's of the right dj
the music could do *that*.

Everytime I've seen him since (another 4 times or so)
my appreciation of him as musician has fallen another
notch; though as technician I always find him
entertaining. I heard his new mix cd for the first
time a couple of days ago which only confirms that
idea. As technique it's interesting: as music it's
almost a parody of the idea of techno as a kind of
function. Utterley soulless.

I really hope something happens to break him out of
his creative rut. I respect Richie as a very talented
person, but fear he's lost his position at the
forefront of creative electronic musicians (who do I
think's up there now? Jan Jelinek, Herbert, Vladislav
Delay/Luomo, Thomas Brinkmann...)

Cheers

Chris
