Prince did a techno song in Melbourne during his Australian tour with Diamond and Pearl. I have it on, um, bootleg. It's kinda like his take on happy gabba! This was 1990/'91.
You can tell a lot about people from their favourite Prince record - it's like star signs. I know Derrick May's was 1999, I once asked him, this probably means..... Everyone loves Prince in Detroit. After Minneapolis it was THE place where he broke and the Electrifyin' Mojo interview with Prince was widely circulated and introduced me to Mojo. In the Prince fanclub everyone wanted pen pals from (1) MPLS (2) Detroit in that order, as they were cool. It was ace. You would get a divorced sista from Atlanta writing letters to a white Jewish gay guy in NY or to someone in Sweden, trading tapes, news, meeting up. Prince did a lot to bring people together. You can hear the Prince influence in all kinds of things. Prince also shares something in common with Detroit techno types who dig B52s - if you listen to the Vanity 6 album you can hear that influence. >Subject: [313] Is Prince the root of all Techno? >Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001 10:34 AM > >Well? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
