I don't think you can say that Madonna grew up in Detroit exactly. She grew up in a suburb somewhere outside of Detroit, and relocated to NY when she was very young, like 18 or something. And yes, she was involved in the sort of "avant- garde" dance music culture that was happening in NY in the early '80s. But I doubt that Detroit techno has had much influence on her just cause she's from Michigan originally. I'm pretty sure she left Michigan before Techno was even around. She was down with the NY Electro scene when she used to hang with Jellybean Benitez and the like in her young days as a NYer. If anything, she should pay homage to that early '80s NY school of electronica.
