well thats funny, that is what seems to happend the world over,,
dj's that are not so hell bent on self promotion and are more interested in
the values of music and their effect on human culture
are often left in the dark,, it's like they become this shadow but are still
essential building blocks for the whole movement,, not really recognised
because of a lack of stature.
Some DJ's get credits for playing an extra-ordinary sets based on their
stature, without that stature they would have gotten no credit at all... so
what does that mean !? it probably means that most ppl can't make a fucking
judgement for them selves - "uhh - it's so and so - lets go crazy for no
apparent reason other than you just paid $35 to see this dj"
nice to hear you Mark point out some one who deserves more of the spot light
for a genuine reason

one of the best detroit sets I heard this year was Alvin Hill playing a set
of old school Detroit rarities for about 4 people in Foran's. Rocking
doubles of an old strings of life remix, early model 500, and other old
obscure detroit stuff that I have not heard before or since.
Alvin is one of the most under-rated and under-appreciated dj's in detroit.
It is a shame that he does not sell himself harder, because he could wipe
the floor with a lot of the characters that are gigging around town these
days.
as for worst sets, I have a few real stinkers in mind but I think I have
made enough enemies in this town already. :)

heart and fealing. showin u can play excellent set without having a jeff
miles skills.
Laurent Garnier @ sonar festival in barcelona- i have no words for
what he
did there!
worst set:
andy weatherall @ sonar festival -he showed us that he has no real skills
when playing hard and not so bright techno. too bad he didn`t play
elektro
or just deep house.
Samuel L. session @oman 17 jerusalem- playing the whole catalog of monoid
without looking at the labels just throwing tribal loops-simeply Boring!
kevin sounderson @ tamarz lounge tel aviv - well he couldn`t do anything
this club has a the worst PA in the world. sad.
