Err...this 'jeff mills only playing in house clubs' thing is just a rumor?
And everyone's got their panties in a twist?

Mills is a great DJ, but it wouldn't bother me if he never played records
again, and concentrated on production. The fact is that the world
is full of really good DJs. Some of them can get $10K a night and
play in giant venues all over the world, and some just play for the love
of it whenever and wherever they can.

Friday night I went to a party in a basement with ceilings so low I
felt like frickin Gandalf in Bag End, and a couple of the local guys --
Tom Gustavson and Dave Herbert -- were playing. They both played dope sets,
and everyone there was busting grins and having the time of their lives,
right up until the police came ...

Maybe most of you know this but it bears repeating -- for all but a very
few people, DJing isn't a career -- it's an obsession, an avocation, a way
of life, and it doesn't matter if there's 5000 people in the room or 5 --
when it feels right there's no better feeling in the world.

If Jeff Mills, or anyone else who DJs for a living, doesn't enjoy it they
should find something else to do. When I think of how jazzed people like
me or Tom or Dave get about playing in a grungy basement for 10 people, it
seems absurd that anyone would complain about being able to make a living
doing it. If they aren't feeling it any more, they should figure out what
to change, or hang it up...
