Taken from your perspective, being a musician helps you to get laid.
Proven fact. :) An otherwordly mating call, if you will.
A second functional purpose may be to express sexual frustration in a
positive manner. The alleviated stress ensures the survival of the species
through continued procreative capabilities.
I personally choose a broader, more spiritual perspective from which to
analyze the purpose of life. I've been down many roads, none of them
illuminating. It's debates like these that catalyze mental instability.

Interesting musicological prose Rusty but have you considered that if life
means little other than to procreate, all we acheive means little other
than to fuck. Can what we hear change the world for the better? If so how
will harmony, as in sound, change our position on this earth and will it
be worth the upheaval?

A timely response Rusty however I do believe that all debate however
challengeing should be entered into. It is only this way that our species
will truly survive. Personaly I enjoy having my beliefs and opinions
challenged as this truly puts my life in perspective allowing me the
freedom to update my beliefs and opinions, this I believe is true evolution
as simple procreation will occur anyway but allowing onesself open to
critisism rarely does. As someone in an earlier article stated "all music
sounds similar", however it's the little differences that make them unique
to us and thus music is purely subjective no wrong or right. I thank you
for this insight and look forward to converseing again soon.
Shosh
P.S What were your choice choons of 2001 and do you like the sounds the
Stereo Deluxe and Compost labels put out?
