Stright from their webpage: The company was founded, among others, by the Berlin-based computer music project Monolake in fall 1999. Since their beginning in 1995, Monolake have always written their own programs to realize their vision of sound and structure. They have performed live electronic music in clubs and concert halls around the globe, so it comes as no surprise that Ableton's first product offers a solution for live performance.
