Sorry, but this is I think my third post of the day, I know I'm 'supposed' to limit my postings but ... just can't help it:
I bought in London about 3 yrs ago, badly labelled 12" (label is white, looks 'homemade', logo looks 'stamped' on - I mean literally with ink and template - A. 'Detroit Is A Ghetto'/'Glory' B 'Jazz Is A Ghetto' ... (In fact, it's incorrectly labelled, correct order is opposite to what label says). Imprint (literally) 'Pan Records'. Artist: Detroit Soul Project. (I therefore assume made in Detroit - perhaps erroneously). Style: House, very deep but techy, production is clean but basic, bpm I think under 145. Vocals ... (no credit), female, alto in scale - she's defn not top tier, but that perhaps adds to rather than reduces the mood. Lyrics are heavy - allude to crack use: Chorus - 'Don't you know, that it's true, that for me, and for you, Detroit is a ghetto'. Is a beautiful piece of work - anyone have any idea of the artist(s)? Heard of the same, any further/earlier work by? Thx to the true people in anticipation. Peace.
