TC> I picked up a great 12" in Rubadub yesterday by DFA (Deterministic Finite > Automata), snappily titled 'Microstructural Chracterization' on Surveillance > Recordings from Detroit. 3 tracks of minimal but extremely soulful and > melodic electronic house/techno, very very nice indeed. Just wondering if > anyone had any more info on DFA or the Surveillance label, and if there's > any other recommended material worth checking out?
Hey Tom, If you recall I put it in my top 10 for 2001...can't say as I know anything about the artist or label though... TC> Their website (http://www.surveillancerecordings.com/) looks great but > there's no actual content... I found http://www.surveillance.net doing a quick search but that is another label altogether...though also from Detroit, and also techno. Seems strange that there are two Techno labels in the same city with the same name! Lemme know if you find out anything! It would be nice if someone could shed some light on the subject. Ohhh and for something in a similar vein you should check out AJ Hunter's Pressure Point EP on Parotic Music, track it down and you'll find it's well worth the effort... It's probably the most interesting record I bought all of last year, seriously deep Techno/House with a Chicago feel and intriguing programming - the record has such a beautifully textured sound to it (if that makes any sense;-) Cheers, m* --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
