FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--ALAN OLDHAM TO SERVE ON ARTISTIC COMMITTEE FOR DEMF
2002

DETROIT-- Former WDET-FM program host, international DJ, Generator/Pure Sonik Records producer/owner and most recently, Pure Comics writer/artist/publisher
Alan Oldham (also known by his stage name of DJ T-1000) has officially been
invited by Pop Culture Media, the producer of DEMF, to sit on the
seven-member Artistic Committee of the 2002 Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

The committee was formed by DEMF founder Carol Marvin.

Each member of the Committee, which also includes Godfather of Detroit Techno Juan Atkins and Moods and Grooves owner/DJ Mike Grant among tohers, will have the opportunity to submit the names of people that they think should perform at this year's DEMF, discuss reasons why, and eventually vote democratically
on the results.

"What a difference a year makes !" says a visibly-excited Oldham. "Needless
to say, I'm honored to have been sought out and asked to participate. I look
forward to working together with all of my fellow Committee members to help
map out the creative direction of this year's DEMF."

What DJs and/or live acts are Oldham planning to propose to the committee ?

"Well, it's a little too soon to divulge that specific info, but I will say
that my emphasis will be on a few Detroit people like myself who were
overlooked in years past. Also, my personal criteria and logic is that you
must have records out, or if you're a non-Detroit artist, you must have
recorded for or have some connection to a Detroit label. I'd consider
lesser-known talents also. Of course, that's just me. There are six other
very esteemed opinions to take into account."

And will DJ T-1000 finally get to rock the DEMF as a performer ?

"I'm proud to say that I'll be finally taking the stage as a DJ at the DEMF
this year. It's been a long time coming.I've played big European parties like
Mayday, Astropolis,Tribal Gathering and Love Parade, but this is home. I
can't wait to bang it."

Also due to this news, Oldham's new artist CD on Pure Sonik as DJ T-1000,
"Neutra", originally scheduled for late March, will be delayed to debut
exclusively at the DEMF in May. The "Neutra" EP, the three-track vinyl
preview of the album, is out on schedule in late February.

All other details about this year's DEMF will be announced shortly by Pop
Culture Media. On the web at: electronicmusicfest.com.
