I went to see Carl, as I was up from Chicago.

Synopsis:
First of all, it wasn't free (as I was expecting it to be), but no biggie -
$5 to see Carl Craig. When my wife and I first got there, there were hardly
20 people there and Carl was spinning some seriously old hip-hop. It was a
very nice hodge-podge of songs for the first hour or hour and a half, as
Carl went through old hip-hop and disco, and mixed in some jazz. It was
almost like he was at home showing someone his record collection, as he
would frequently stop the record in the middle of play and take it off the
turntable and go and grab another record while there was silence. If
someone really wanted to find a problem with Carl that could have been their
gripe, but he was just having so much fun! About two hours into it, the
camillian cafe was full to the gills (but it's very small - which means
about 50 people were there). A few people started dancing, and it really
caught on. At this point Carl was playing strictly old house tunes from the
late 80's for all of his friends that had come out to chat and say hi. 80%
of the people in there knew all the words to all these songs, most of which
I'd only heard once or twice before, the rest I'd never even heard. Really
cool mixing, really nice crowd. I'd say that most of the people in the
place were at or around 30 years old - so it made for a cool atmosphere.

We ended up leaving at around one, and the place was still packed, the music
was still fresh, and the sandwiches were out of this world! Absolutely
splendid tasting sandwiches.

Cheers,
Dennis

Did anyone check out Carl's five hour set?

Truth

I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself...
