I saw him for the first time about 8 or 9 years ago in the Sub Club also -
one of the best sets I have had the pleasure of witnessing. Since then I
have seen him about 10 times and tend to agree with Jason on this one - I
saw him 3 times in a 2 week period once (Pure, Sub Club then Space in Ibiza)
and he played the same set all 3 times - the third time one of my mates left
during his second mix saying "I'm not listening to this again" and went out
to hear whoever was playing in the courtyard.
He can be absolutely mindblowingly good but it seems to depend what sort of
mood he is in.

I first saw him only about 6 or 7 years ago in the Sub Club in Glasgow
despite having followed his work slavishly since 1987- he was the first DJ
who literally reduced me to tears (sob, sob!) and I've seen him about 10
times since then- he has been shit- and I mean shit- about 6 times- very
good twice and amazing twice. When he is shit he just plays very middle of
the road tribal techno- so far removed from the complex music he used to
make- with no dynamics or emotion- as if he feels the audience either
wouldn't understand or don't deserve to hear the real good stuff- he is a
very frustrating character but then that's life!
