I don't think 'back then' there were that much more high quality events in absolute numbers. I think it just seems that way because it's the percentage that has dropped because there are more average parties. In the past, say there were 10 events every month, 5 of which were high quality and now there are 100 every month, but the 5 high quality ones are still there. The overground may grow, but the underground will always be there.
