It seems to me, all of you are jumping to conclusions, there is still
approximately a month to get other artists on that schedule, try and get
in contact with the panel if there's someone you want to see.
The only point I do agree with is the fact that many local people

>>>By turning the DEMF into more of a Festival of Electronic Music from
Detroit
(and Detroit-influenced/friendly), does this run the risk of:

(1) Lowering the likely local crowd size ("Aw man, that DEMF lineup is
whack.
I can see any of those dudes here, whenever I want.")

(2) Alienating some of the (non-hardcore) out-of-town potential
audience,
for whom part of the attraction of the DEMF is to see not only Our
Favorite Detroit artists, but also those artists whom we never
really
get a chance to see - certainly not too often on American soil - in
such an inviting surrounding framework? (I'm thinking the Chain
Reaction
guys being at DEMF 1, Autechre at DEMF 2, Titonton's live set at
DEMF 2,
Laurent Garnier's live band at DEMF 2, and so on ... )>>>>

Bill VanLoo is right that the musicians chosen are the reflection of
that of the committee. (I honestly thought they would be more open to
bringing in some experimental acts etc... quite sad for me.)

Also there is no comparison of DEMF to Sonar or Coachella, because you
have to pay to get into both of those festivals, and DEMF remains free.

There definately should be a way to get a 313 stage for next year, it's
called fund raisers. Also if 313 joined up with other similar groups,
such as techno tourist, xlr8r or all music guide there could definately
be something going for that idea.
